My LA Guide to Birthday Cakes

Tomorrow is my good friend's birthday and today I was on the hunt for the perfect birthday cake for him.

Here are some of my favorite options (some are located in the LA area only):

Cheesecake Factory's Chocolate Mousse Cake
At $25.95 for a 7-inch round cake, it's really a mid-range priced cake and a taste that everyone really loves.

Ralph's Tuxedo Tiramisu Cake
By far the most affordable cake option on my list. This is really a pleasant surprise. It is unlike any grocery store cake I've ever tasted because it tastes AWESOME. And the price point at ~$16 makes it all the sweeter.

Vanilla Bake Shop's 7-Layer Cake (Santa Monica)
A bit price-y, but definitely an indulgent treat. My car smelled like a sweet, mouth-watering bakery after transporting this cake! Seriously.

Sweet Lady Jane's Triple Berry Cake (Hollywood)
Hands down - this is my go to cake for all my friends' birthdays. It is $36 for a small round cake that will easily feed 6-8 people. This cake is so light and fluffy that it's difficult to stop eating! If you ever have the chance or are in Hollywood, you must stop by - you will not be disappointed.

I've shared mine -- what are your favorite birthday cakes? Do you make your own birthday cakes or do you have a go-to place like I do?

Antique & Vintage Engagement Rings

I love Tiffany's as much as the next girl, but there is something about antique and vintage rings. I love the feeling of knowing that you cannot just walk into any store and find these rings - they are very unique, and it's as if they have a story to tell...

Romantic Diamond
How beautiful, and sparkly is this? This is by far my favorite on the site!

Antique Style Green Sapphire
This ring reminds me of Kate Middleton's/Princess Di's engagement ring, only in sapphire.

Art Deco Old European
I am loving the intricate design of this ring.

Old European Cut Diamond
This has such a 1920s elegance and class to it.

All of these rings can be found/bought here.

The Indie/Vintage Look

Lately, I really feel like mixing up some of my fashion choices. I am sort of lusting after these pieces right now:

Anthropologie: I could mix this in with my regular work clothes and it would add just that extra punch of color and "style".

Fred Flare: I've always been a sucker for white lace, especially white lace DRESSES. I could see myself on a day date with my husband, walking the Santa Monica pier in this dress. Maybe its the bow, maybe it's the semi-nautical look, or the flattering shape --- I'm just drawn to it. Another date outfit, perhaps? Or a lunch date with the gals? My birthday is still 6 months away but I have been thinking of having a Roaring 20s themed party. This dress would be PERFECT for an event like that. So much pretty....

Fall 2012 Fashion Trend: Colored Skinny Jeans

Lauren Conrad
Emma Stone

Kim Kardashian
Jessica Alba

Many celebs have been spotted sporting colored skinny jeans lately.
Personally I love how Jessica Alba and Emma Stone incoporated their bright red jeans into their outfits but I am not sure if I would be able to pull it off. What do you think of this trend? Would you sport this look or is it too loud?

My Favorite Makeup Items Right Now

Make Up For Ever HD
I've been using Mac Studio Tech for the longest time as my go-to foundation and while I still prefer it for heavier coverage and photos, I am in love with Makeup For Ever HD. Their 123 color matches my skin perfectly and it has such a nice, satiny finish. It looks like your skin is glowing.

Mac 187 Stipple Brush
I use this brush to apply the MUFE HD foundation on my skin. The bristles are so soft and it feels like I get a professional finished look when I use this brush.

Mac Painterly Paint Pot
I don't know how I went so long without eye primer, or THIS product. I have a lot of darkness on my eyelids, and this conceals the darkness perfectly. I use this as my everyday eye makeup - no eyeshadow necessary because the color itself is so pretty and natural. It also works as an excellent primer - on my wedding day I ended up going to sleep with my makeup on (I know...not good), but when I woke up my eyeshadow was still perfect! This stuff is amazing - and I can't wait to try out the other Paint Pot colors.
